Apply to Speak

Conference Overview

The heart and soul of the TIADA Conference is our education. We love our speakers almost as much we love our dealer attendees. While the quantity of education we offer during our conference is impressive, attendees always leave talking about the quality. From owners and GM’s to the newest greenhorn staffers, the TIADA Conference has something for everyone.  With that being said, we are looking for the best and brightest in the industry to be a part of our event and we are thrilled that you want to speak at this year’s conference.

It wouldn’t be fair if we didn’t mention this part. It will help you (and us) be successful. Our education hall is a “No Sales Zone” and it’s strictly enforced by angry attendees telling us about it in their survey and whole lot of stink eye. If your program ends with our attendees needing to hire you to be successful, you might be a better fit in our expo hall.  Check out sponsor opportunities here or email us and we will make sure we set you up with a booth if one is available and that you have a great conference.

Apply to Speak

  • Submitting Your Proposal

    Great, let’s get down to business. You will need the following items to complete an application:

    Session Title – We may work with you to tweak this so we get the most out of marketing you session.
    Session Description – Up to 75 words, again we may massage this one before it goes in the program.
    Learning Objectives and Outline – Be specific here and briefly tell us what our attendees will learn or how it will help their business. We have a form to help you with this one.
    Contact Info – We probably know you, but just in case we don’t.
    About the Speaker(s) – In 150 words or less tell us about your experience and include a brief bio so we can tell our attendees how lucky they are to hear you.
    Headshot – Our attorney says we have to tell you we will use this photo to help promote the conference; consider it done. Must be high resolution, professional headshot, from the chest up.
    Video – Another word from our attorney, TIADA reserves all rights to this video and may use the content in promoting the conference. Our marketing folks tell us this is a must these days. The video will be used not only to help evaluate the applications; it will also be used to help us promote your session prior to the event. A few tips to help: (1) Don’t have any logos, or subtitles in the video we will take care of all that. (2) Make sure the video is over 30 seconds but no more than 1 minute and 30 seconds. (3) Tell us who you are, give a brief overview of your session and make sure to include two or three takeaways a dealer will be able to use back to their dealership or to help the business. (4) The video should be .mp4 or .mov format, have good audio and good lighting. We also suggest recording from the chest up, no one is coming to see your shoes. (5) Our last suggestion:  If you need some help people under 18 seem to be really good at this video stuff.

  • Speaking Opportunities

    We pride ourselves on offering various learning environments and styles at our conference. We have a healthy mix of the traditional sit and get breakout sessions, panel discussions, roundtable networking and small group Q&A learning environments, but we are open to new cutting edge ideas. Select a traditional session OR pitch us something out of the box. Either way, apply soon, these spots will fill up fast!

     Session types:
    * 50-Minute Breakout Session
    * 35-Minute Interview with Q&A (no more than 25 attendees and will be repeated)

    *35-Minute Roundtable Discussion (no more than 15 attendees and will be repeated)
    * 60-90 Minute Keynote Address
    * Other (Let’s get creative)

  • Materials and Slides

    We can’t wait to get all your great information on our material and see how sharp it looks. We have designed a marketing pallet that all presenters must use. This includes all the onsite material that is distributed as well as the slides for your PowerPoint if you have one. Simply take your material and copy it over to the pre-approved TIADA Annual Conference education material that you can find here. If you need help with this part just let us know and we can make your materials look fantastic. Make sure you don’t have a company logo or a sales pitch in your material or slides.  We usually have a big smile when we tell presenters about our “No Sales Zone” but don’t mistake our friendliness for a “wink wink” – we mean business. All slides and material that will be distributed during your session must be submitted to TIADA within two weeks of being accepted as a presenter. And now a brief word from our attorney (something about us recording, owning, and selling the videos).

    And Now For Brownie Points

    We want our attendees talking about you before the conference. So, if you submit an original article for our blog, Texas Dealer magazine, Facebook or Linkedin by February 15 you will gain significant brownie points with our selection committee. And, if you agree to promote our conference through your social media channels you will make it really hard for us to say no.

  • Selection Process / Notification

    We start marketing our education sessions for our conference in early March so most of our speakers will be selected by mid-February. But, this process has some moving parts and sometimes it takes us a little longer. We understand that you have a life too, so feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email and we will let you know where we are at in the process.

  • Compensation

    Whoa now, you didn’t think we would forget about this did you? While most speakers would gladly pay to present at this conference we don’t think that is fair. So, selected speakers will receive a full Conference Registration, one-night stay in a standard room at the Anatole Hotel and reimbursement for standard travel to and from the conference. All incidental expenses are the speaker’s responsibility. If for some reason this doesn’t work for your needs or you have a special request please let us know and we review each request individually.
